Industry, The Practical Web Conference was held annually between 2012 and 2016 in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK.
Gavin Elliott, a Design Leader from the United Kingdom, organised the event.
At Codeworks, Gavin organised DIBI (Design It. Build It.) in Newcastle in 2010 and 2011, bringing some of the most exciting and influential faces in our Industry to the North East of England. In 2012 Gavin stepped away to focus on creating a new event focused solely on delivering practical knowledge in a single-track format.
Industry Conf launched in late 2012, ran in April 2013, and had another three successful years.
It was unique in that a maximum of 150 places were available for each event, a far smaller number than other events. And for a good reason. The purpose of Industry was to deliver maximum impact to those who attended and had many supporters who believed in Industry's mission.
Whilst closing the 2016 event, Gavin announced on stage it would be Industry's last year. Over 6 years he'd organised 4 packed Industry events and two DIBI Conference's before that. His Dad had recently died and whilst he was proud of Industry, he needed time.
